Langtang Tamang Heritage Trekking
For sure, Langtang Tamang Heritage Trekking is an exciting trekking into Himalayas mixing mountain adventure with wonderful Himalayan culture. Well, the Langtang region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with idyllic rural landscape and the rich cultural heritage of ethnic Nepalese Tamang people. You can access to this region by just a drive for few hours. The trek along off-the-beaten-track of the rural and rugged mountains and the high passes along with the beautiful chortens and stupas make every trekker enjoy their best.
Well, Langtang Tamang Heritage Trekking begins with a day’s drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi. And the actual trekking starts from Syabrubeshi. Then, we head upward to Gatlang and Tatopani followed by Thuman and Briddim. After that, we move to Lama Hotel and then follow the upward trek to Langtang Village. We finally reach at famous Kyanjin Gompa. Sure, you will get opportunity to explore wonderful culture of Tamang people in Langtang region along with rich biodiversity. You will have great time during your trek.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), our representatives from Motherland Hike Team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and preparation for the trek
Today, you will visit main places of Kathmandu valley. In the morning you visit Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, and Swayambhunath. Pashupatinath is the oldest Hindu temple, Bauddhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa are the oldest Buddhist Stupas. After launch you visit Kathmandu durbar square and Patan durbar square. In Kathmandu durbar square, you visit Kumari temple, the temple of Living goddess.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi (1550m) 8-9 hours
After morning breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. We will enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. We will take Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we then descend down to Syabrubesi. We will stay overnight at Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Trek from Syabrubeshi to Gatlang (2200m) 5 hours
From Syabrubesi we start our trek and head to Ghat Lang, which lies on hill side is a Tamang settlements. You also visit the traditional Goljung village. In Goljung and Gatlang you observe the cultural show which makes your trekking an unforgettable one.
Day 05: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m) 7 hours
From Gatlang we head to Tatopani enjoying the sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. You explore Tamang culture at Tatopani. Here you also find natural hot spring and you can take hot bath in natural hot springs in the lap of the mountains.
Day 06: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2400m) via Brimdang and Nagthali: 6 hours
Thuman is another cultural village which is famous for its Shamanic performances. From this village we can also see the beautiful view of Langtang. This day you also visit the Nagthali village which is the popular meditation centre for local monks. From this place you also see the panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges.
Day 07: Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2345m) 6 hours
This day we head to Briddim which is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. Here you can explore the culture and tradition of the Briddim, the descendant of ancient Tibetan immigrants.
Day 08: Trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel (2470m) 6 hours
This day we head to Lama Hotel. It takes about six hours to reach Lama Hotel.
Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m) 7 hours
After taking morning breakfast, we will start our second day of the journey. Well, our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. We will enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. And we will pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We will stay overnight at Langtang valley.
Day 10: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) 4 hours
After taking morning tea and breakfast, we get out of the Kyanjin village and pass on through yak pastures. We will also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. We then cross several of the wooden bridges. Since, we are really getting into the high altitudes you might start feeling the thin air. Kyanjin Gompa is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around Kanjin Gompa enjoying the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.
Day 11: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 5 hours
5 hours walk from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way downhill through forest following the river. We will pass through the ethnic Tamang settlements that follow religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans.
Day 12: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubeshi: 5 hours
After breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubensi for about 5 hours. We will be enjoying the easy trail mostly downhill through lush green vegetation. Arriving Syabrubesi, we take our lunch. We will stay overnight at Syabrubesi.
Day 13: Drive from Syabrubeshi to Kathmandu
After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu. Arriving Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. Spend the day leisurely or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. We will celebrate the farewell dinner in the dinner.
Day 14: Final Departure
You are saying good bye to the Kathmandu as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We will transfer you to the airport for your returning flight.
