Kwangde Peak Climbing

Kwangde Peak (6011m.) is one of the difficult peaks in Everest region and rarely climbed by the mountaineers. Kwade Peak climbing is through Lumding Valley which forms multi summated ridge on the eastern end of Lumding Himal. Kwade Peak can be regarded as part of Rolwaling Himal. Kwangde Peak is also known as Kwangde Ri which stands above Bhote Koshi River accessed from Namche Bazaar crossing difficult ridge to summit. Kwade Peak is one of the technically challenging Peaks though its elevation is not too high.

Kwangde Peak can be accessed from south and north face. Both faces form impressive and challenging ridges bound in Khumbu region. Climbing the peak offers the trek to Karyolung glacier, Khartang glacier and Number glacier in across Lumding valley. Along the trail, Tsho Og Lake and massive Lumding Tsho Teng etc. are passed through. The summit of the peak is of the distance of 3 miles ridge from the summit of Nup (6035m), to the southeast Kwangde Lho and Kwangde Shar before turning to southeast to Nupla Peak. These peaks are included in climbing permit while summiting Kwade Peak. The summit of the peak offers the panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Rolwaling, Mt. Cho Oyo and other snow-capped mountains.

Kwangde Peak is challenging therefore it requires technically advanced expertise to climb the peaks around it as well as the main summit. The climbing to the peak includes about 4 peaks and all of them are above 6,000m with glacier treks and rock climbing. The climbers need to be healthy and fit who are able to perform High Mountain trekking.

Day to day Itineraries

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1310m.)
You are welcome in the country of Mt. Everest, here in Nepal. After you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the representative of Motherland Hiking Team greets of welcome and takes you to the already booked hotel. The hotel staffs will be engaged for your accommodation and check in. In the evening, there will be an arrangement of welcome dinner in the hotel with our team.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation for trekking
Today, after having breakfast, we will provide a guide who will take you to the famous cultural and historical sites of Kathmandu. Among them, the UNESCO enlisted world heritage may be the primary place of visit. Pashupatinath (sacred Hindu temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist Shrine), Swayambhunath (Monkey temple), Durbar Squire, Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, Dharahara ( Bhimsen Tower) etc. there will be pre- trip discussion with your mountain climbing Sherpa guides for well preparation of the trek. They will give brief information and highlights Lobuche Peak climbing.

Day 03:  Kathmandu to Lukla flight and trekking to Phakding (2652m.)
With having breakfast in Kathmandu, your flight is set to Lukla. It’s a short flight of half-an hour. View the Himalayan region while you are in the air which is overwhelming and fabulous. We start the trek to Phakding for about 5 hours along the trail following Everest base Camp Trekking trail. There you may get the world famous hospitality of Sherpas. We stay in a lodge in Phakding.

Day 04: Trek to Lumding Kharka
 We continue trek to Lumding valley. The trail continues to the foot of Everest region i.e. Namche Bazaar. The trek is full of the views of natural scenarios and mountains while crossing the valleys and meadows. The trek follows a lot of ups and downs with crossing and re-crossing Dudh Koshi River to reach Namche bazaar from Phakding.

Day 05: Trek to Pokhari Camp
On this day, we trek to Pokhari Camp from Lumding Kharka. The trekking is full of picturesque views of landscape and mountains. The trail goes through the forest and green valleys. We stay overnight in Pokhari Camp area.

Day 06: Trek to Kwangde Ri Base Camp
 On this day, we trek to the base Camp Kwangde Ri. It is wonderful trekking towards the foothill of the peak. The views of giant mountains and glaciers are inexpressible in words.  We make preparations for peak climbing. The guides will give you some training and information about the climbing of this challenging peak. We stay overnight there in camp
Day 07: Acclimatization at Kwangde Base Camp
It is our rest day. We acclimatize on the base camp to adjust with high elevation effects. It is necessary for taking rest because we may fall sick of lack of oxygen and high altitude. We make preparations for climbing peak. You can explore the surrounding and hiking to the peaks as you are free to spend the day. Overnight stay in Base Camp.

Day 08: Trek to High Camp of Kwangde Peak
On this day, we trek to High Camp of Kwangde Peak. It is one of the challenging ascend through rocky ridge which gives clue of the climbing the peak. Climbers need to be careful while trekking to the High Camp with their trekking materials. We stay high camp and stay overnight.

Day 09:  Kwangde Peak summit and return to Base Camp.
It is your ascent to the top of Kwangde Peak with other peaks around the peak. From the top, enjoy the lofty view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Rolwaling, Mt. Cho Oyo and many other snow- capped mountains and peaks with superb views of glaciated region. Return back to Base Camp before evening and camp there overnight. (If weather doesn’t favor, we have to wait for another day)

Day 1o: Trek to Dingboche
On this day, we trek downwards to Dingboche. The views of mountains covered with snow offer panoramic imprint of the nature. You turn your head to grasp the departing view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Cho Oyo, Nupla etc. We spend the night in a lodge in Dingboche.

Day 11: Retrieve back to Tengboche
We are retrieving back along the same trail of Everest Base Camp. The trek downwards to Tengboche while returning back. Amazingly, the scenarios will not be lost as you are trekking down. There e are opportunities to explore the surrounding and settlements throughout the way to Tengboche. We stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 12: Retrieve back to Namche Bazaar
Walking through the valleys and meadows, you are getting back to Namche.  Some small huts and shepherd huts can be seen along the way. Namche access is like in wonderland after some day’s journey to the remote areas. Your feeling will be totally different as you reach to Namche Bazaar. You feel as if you are in a wonderland thrown from primitive snowy mountains. We stay overnight in a hotel in Namche bazaar.

 Day 13: Trek Back to Lukla
 It is our last day of trekking for this trip. We walk through Saldang village with experiencing a traditional rural life. The area is rich in its picturesque view of the natural landscape. You can experience life style of the local people in Lukla if there remains time. You can shop local items three in local market. We stay in a hotel overnight.

Day 14: Lukla to Kathmandu
You board a plane and fly to Kathmandu. This short and scenic domestic flight possibly makes you feel nostalgic because of the glimpses of snowy mountains from your plane. You will be transferred to hotel where you either have leisure time or you may catch the last moments exploring the missed sights of Kathmandu valley or purchasing gifts to your nearest ones. In the evening, we have a celebration dinner together.

Day 15: Farewell Day
On the last day, we bid goodbye to the guest as visit in Nepal comes to the end for this time. If you have time enough, you can have sightseeing and purchasing the token of love from Nepal. Before 3 hours of scheduled flight, our representatives will take you to the TIA. We hope you will be planning for another adventure-trip while you are on returning back to your homeland.
