We will begin our Helambu Circuit Trek from Sundarijal which is the north east corner of Kathmandu Valley. We then climb up through the Shivapuri National Park to the Shivapuri Ridge from where you can observe the gorgeous views of Gaurishankar Himal, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. En route, we will be passing through various mountain viewpoints like Kutumsang, Hylmo and Goth along with the beautiful alpine meadows and green lush forests of rhododendrons and bamboo.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), our representatives from Motherland Hike Team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and preparation for the trek

Today, you will visit main places of Kathmandu valley. In the morning you visit Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, and Swayambhunath. Pashupatinath is the oldest Hindu temple; Bauddhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa are the oldest Buddhist Stupas. After launch you visit Kathmandu durbar square and Patan durbar square. In Kathmandu durbar square, you visit Kumari temple, the temple of Living goddess.

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal & Trek to Chisapani (2300m): 5 hours

This day in the morning we drive to Sundarijal for an hour in the north east corner of the Kathmandu valley. Then we climb uphill through the national park passing through the several villages. After some hours of walking we reach Chisapani from where we can see the views of different mountains.

Day 04: Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m): 7 hours

This day also we walk uphill and downhill as well as in the flat path. After some time we reach Gul Bhanjyang which is a village of Sherpa, Gurung, and Tamang. In this village you can get insight into the culture, lifestyle of these ethnic people. Then we head to Kutumsang crossing meadow, terrace field jungle.

Day 05: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati (3650m): 6 hours

From Kutumsang we climb up in a steep and eroded trail through the forest of rhododendron and fir. Finally we reach Tharepati from where we can see the wonderful sunset in the Jugal Himal and Numbur Himal ranges in the Solu Khumbu and good views of Helambu valley below.

Day 06: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m): 6 hours

Today, we descend down to Melamchi River. We cross the river and climb up to Tarkeghyang through Sherpa settlements. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries.

Day 07: Trek to Sermathang (2610m): 4 hours

Today, we will trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2590m). Trekking today is comparatively easier than the previous days as the trail goes through flat land with beautiful forests. On the way, we would penetrate the village called Shermathang where we would visit some ancient monasteries. We will stay overnight at Sermathang.

Day 08: Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar and 4 hours

Today we trek from Shermathang to Melamchi. The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows ad cultivated fields. On the way, we come across several villages. En route, we would interact with the local people and know their culture and way of life. We will stay at the guesthouse in Melamchi Bazaar.

Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu

Today, from Melamchi Pul Bazaar, we drive to Kathmandu. The road is graveled and bumpy till Lamidanda and then we will have pitched road up to Kathmandu.

Day 10: Final Departure

You are saying good bye to the Kathmandu as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We will transfer you to the airport for your returning flight.
